Little is known about Augusta, Ga native Str8Shuta ( born Wallace Caston ) but that is destined to change in the blink of an eye for this hot, new rap artist who’s roots run deep into the soul of the music industry (literally – his father, Leon Rhodes Austin, was the right hand man for the Godfather of Soul James Brown). Clearly, Str8Shuta takes the point of view as a man of the people giving the listener a front row seat to the experiences of life and all its human emotions. As an independent artist/songwriter with Bad Bananas Music/Bottom Boiiz Entertainment, it is most apparent that the multi-dimensional influences of a diverse scope of musical genres – raw Hip-Hop, R&B, soul and alternative rock – have transformed this promising artist into a true lyrical powerhouse. His musical style delivers a straight-no-chaser flow of emotionally charged expressions that is clear evidence that his mind is his greatest weapon.
But the only crime that this rising star will commit on his followers is arresting their thoughts with cuts such as his single “Favorite Toy” – a “rock your body” hip-hop meets rock anthem which infuses smooth, southern comfort with east coast, straight, shooting grit. The cut opens with a smooth piano intro that rolls into a raw, hip-hop and Rock laced beat topped off with a blazin’ electric guitar solo to take you on out….”as far as you can go – and out of control” just as the song says. “Favorite Toy” has received spins on Wilmington’s Coast 97.3 and some of the hottest clubs in the region.
